Learn more about the Lakeland Smart Grid Initiative at this week’s First Friday event in Munn Park.

The Plug Into Smart team will be hosting a booth this week at Downtown Lakeland’s First Friday event. First Friday celebrates downtown each month with music and entertainment along the streets. A classic car show will highlight the May 6th event. During this month’s event, the City of Lakeland’s Public Works Department will be celebrating the American Public Works Association National Public Works Week (NPWW). The event is from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 in Munn Park.

The NPWW celebration will feature displays from each division from the City of Lakeland Public Works Department. Some of the feature displays include: heavy duty equipment, Lakes & Stormwater awareness campaigns, pedestrian & bicycle safety, solid waste collection, recycling materials and much more! Along with these events there will be children’s activities, give-a-ways and fun for the whole family!
